FremantleMedia And Capital Entertainment Team Up To Bring All The High's And Low's
Of America's Most Watched Show To DVD In November
LAS VEGAS - Fremantle Home Entertainment (FHE), the home entertainment division of FremantleMedia, one of the largest international creators and producers of program brands in the world, and Capital Entertainment Enterprises (CEE) today announced details for one of the most anticipated DVD series of the year - American Idol. The announcement was made at the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) convention by Pete Kalhan, Senior Vice President, Home Entertainment and Archive Sales, FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide and Capital Entertainment's Henry Winterstern, President and CEO and Richard Williams, President. American Idol judge, Paula Abdul, will hold a press conference at 3:00 PM (PST) at the Bellagio Hotel to elaborate on the DVD collection and her involvement in the television program.
The titles announced for release include The Best of American Idol, Seasons 1-4, which will showcase the greatest performances during the show's illustrious run and The Worst of American Idol, Seasons, 1-4, covering some of the most memorable and hilarious auditions ever witnessed by the Idol judges. A third limited edition disc set, The Best and Worst of American Idol, Seasons 1-4, is also slated for store shelves. All titles are expected for release in November.
"American Idol creates indelible images and memories not only for the contestants that participate in the show, but also for all those millions of fans out there that watch," commented Kalhan. "There have been so many memorable moments during the course of the American Idol series that it's hard to select content for this DVD series. From some of the funniest auditions we've ever seen to the most inspiring performances, these DVDs will have it all. Fans will not be disappointed."
Winterstern added: "We are very excited to be releasing the Best and Worst of American Idol at a time when the show has never been more successful. Having Paula Abdul's involvement with us is extremely exciting."
Abdul, who is one of the show's biggest fans and supporters, had this to say of the show and her excitement for the DVD collection: "I am thrilled to be working on this project with Capital Entertainment. What makes the show so unique is that it gives average Americans the opportunity to pursue their dream; and we love watching their stories."
