Culver City, CA (May 30, 2005) - Dave Chappelle, one of comedy's hottest stars who in 2004 had the all-time best-selling TV on DVD, takes his trademark humor to a live audience with DAVE CHAPPELLE: FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, an uncensored Showtime special which Sony Pictures Entertainment will bring to DVD on August 16. The DVD will be available for $19.94 SLP.
Appearing at San Francisco's legendary Fillmore Theatre, the comedian offers "in-your-face," politically incorrect, cutting-edge commentaries on race, sex, politics, current events and many other topics. Chappelle's unique style of comedy cuts across all cultural stereotypes and societal taboos.
In 2004, the debut DVD of Comedy Central's critically acclaimed Chappelle's Show, Chappelle's Show Season One: Uncensored, became the #1 best selling TV show on DVD ever. Chappelle's Show received two Emmy® nominations for Outstanding Variety, Comedy or Music Program and for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Comedy or Music Series.
Last year, Chappelle concluded his hugely successful "The Grass Roots Tour" which sold out 159 shows in more than 50 cities before it even began. In 2003, Chappelle completed the "Dave Chappelle Is Blackzilla Comedy Tour," appearing in 60 cities with 95 sold-out shows; the tour was the #3 ranked tour in the United States that year.
Chappelle has appeared in another one-hour comedy special, Killin' Them Softly. He has also appeared in such films as Undercover Brother, The Nutty Professor, Con Air, You've Got Mail and Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
DAVE CHAPPELLE: FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH is a Pilot Boy and RickMill production, executive produced by Dave Chappelle, Stan Lathan and Kimber Rickabaugh. The special is directed by Stan Lathan and written by Dave Chappelle. Executive in charge of production is Cisco Henson; production designer is Bruce Ryan.
