THE VEGETARIAN VAMPIRE MAKES HIS DVD DEBUT
LOS ANGELES - The first season of the kids' favorite and adult cult sensation '80s cartoon, Count Duckula, makes its debut on DVD on October 4, 2005 from Capital Entertainment. Encompassing all 26 episodes fully restored and uncut, the three-disc set, entitled Count Duckula: The Complete First Season, contains over 10 hours of entertainment for the entire family.
This is the chance for audiences to get reacquainted - or meet for the unforgettable first time - Count Duckula, a once-villainous vampire brought back to life after a near fatal stake to the heart. His butler, Igor, and bumbling maid, Nanny, revive Count Duckula with a transfusion of ketchup instead of blood. So, now a mild-mannered vegetarian, Count Duckula spends his time pursuing fame and money by teleporting from his castle on madcap adventures all over the world.
The cartoon, produced by Cosgrove Hall (of DangerMouse and Wind in the Willows fame), was a huge hit in the late 1980s with both young audiences and older fans who appreciated the series' wry humor.
Aside from featuring fully animated menus, the DVD will feature a raft of bonus material, including an interview with the show's creators, including Brian Cosgrove, as well as an extensive photo gallery and a featurette detailing how to draw Count Duckula. It will also include original artwork from the series' development stages. Count Duckula: The Complete First Season will be available for a suggested retail price of $39.98 in stores nationwide and at www.capitalent.com.
Count Duckula is a rare gem - a cartoon that appeals not just to young children, but also to older audiences that appreciate the in-jokes, not to mention the nostalgia appeal of an age before "Animation Domination" became a household word. Now, for the first time on DVD, Capital Entertainment is bringing back the cartoon that was the harbinger to shows like The Simpsons, currently the longest-running sitcom (animated or otherwise) on television. Count Duckula is truly a cross-generational show that the entire family can enjoy together.
Count Duckula was a show ahead of its time and it now occupies the unique slot of cult favorite and nostalgia classic. Thanks to Capital Entertainment, the complete first season of this one-of-a-kind animation is back to thrill and chill and entertain audiences the world over. The Count has returned. Count your blessings!
