THE HOUSE OF ELIOTT, SERIES TWO

As seen on A&E, PBS, and BBC America

Acorn Media announces the January 10, 2006 DVD release of The House of Eliott, Series Two. Louise Lombard (CSI, Hidalgo) and Stella Gonet (Nicholas Nickleby) star as beautiful sisters born to privilege but left destitute when their profligate father dies. With talent and determination, they continue their fight to the top of the cutthroat world of fashion design, as suitors try to woo them and scoundrels try to trip them up. Set in roaring 1920s London, the multimillion-dollar production is especially noted for its authentic costume design, for which it won Emmy and BAFTA awards. The series was a ratings blockbuster in the U.K. and won millions of new fans from runs on A&E, PBS, and BBC America. Extras on the DVD include an exclusive interview with Louise Lombard, photo gallery, and cast filmographies. The House of Eliott, Series Two, is a 4-volume DVD boxed set with an SRP of $59.99. Its 12 episodes have a total running time of 625 minutes. Pre-book date is December 13, 2005.

The House of Elliot was created by celebrated actresses Eileen Atkins and Jean Marsh, the same team that developed the landmark period drama Upstairs, Downstairs. The series contrasts the glamorous life of London's upper classes with the more prosaic lives of the city's working class, but in this case two upper-class characters are forced by circumstance to work for a living. Despite the odds against them as naïve women untrained to compete in a man's world, the Eliott sisters find encouragement from the blossoming suffragette movement.

The House of Eliott, Series One and Series Two are available from select retailers, catalog, and direct from Acorn at 1-888-870-8047 or www.acornonline.com.

Headquartered in suburban Washington, D.C., Acorn Media is one of North America's most active providers of British television on home video.
