BURBANK, CA - Starz Home Entertainment will release Elvis: The Miniseries, the award-winning TV event that rocked the Elvis legend with swinging hips, sneering lips and a soundtrack by the king himself (the first biopic to feature Elvis' master recordings). Finally on DVD on Aug. 14, this beautiful looking release includes unique "Velvet Elvis" collector's packaging and deleted sequences from the movie that are sure to delight fans. The complete uncut miniseries will retail for $26.97.
Elvis: The Miniseries follows the future king of rock 'n' roll as he struggles in rural Mississippi to make ends meet. Eventually, a young Presley (Golden GlobeŽ winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers of The Tudors in a star-making turn) will discover rockabilly, a rhythmic mix of country and blues, which when matched with his unique voice, creates a sensation heard 'round the world. With a little help from wily manager "Colonel" Tom Parker (Golden GlobeŽ winner Randy Quaid), Elvis would become one of the most influential artists in the history of popular music. The miniseries contains other outstanding performances by a star-studded cast, including Rose McGowan (Ann-Margaret), Camryn Manheim (Gladys Presley) and Robert Patrick (Vernon Presley).
With the full cooperation of the Presley estate, this is the closest thing to being part of Elvis's entourage on an amazing journey from Sun Records to the '68 comeback special.
