FOYLE'S WAR, SET 3
Acorn Media announces the Nov. 1, 2005, DVD release of Foyle's War, Set 3. The international hit mystery series continues with four stories set in 1941, as World War II rages over Europe. Michael Kitchen ( Out of Africa) stars as detective Christopher Foyle, whose loyalties are put to the test as his investigations uncover unpleasant truths that powerful people would rather keep hidden. Grounded in historical fact and filmed in London and the southern counties of England, Foyle's War opens a unique window on a significant time and place. Created by acclaimed writer Anthony Horowitz ( Poirot, Midsomer Murders), Foyle's War co-stars Anthony Howell and Honeysuckle Weeks. DVD bonus features include behind-the-scenes documentary with interviews and exclusive "making-of" footage, production notes, historical background, cast reflections, and cast filmographies. Acorn's 4-volume DVD boxed set has a running time of 400 minutes and is priced at $59.99 SRP. Pre-book date is October 4.
Set Three begins with The French Drop, in which Foyle gets caught up in the rivalry between the established spy agency MI5 and the newly created SOE (Special Operations Executive). In Enemy Fire, Foyle comes face-to-face with the devastating physical and emotional consequences of war. They Fought in the Fields uncovers a murdered farmer and the crash landing of a German plane, presenting Foyle with a very confusing case. A War of Nerves sees an unexploded bomb at a busy shipyard leading to a startling discovery.
