Culver City, CA (July 11, 2005) - Ned and Stacey is considered NBC's predecessor to their current hit series Will and Grace. Starring Emmy AwardŽ winner Debra Messing (TV's Will and Grace, The Wedding Date) and Academy AwardŽ nominee Thomas Haden Church (Sideways, TV's Wings), Ned and Stacey features first-class writing and pitch perfect performances from its lead characters. Special features include a 20 minute retrospective of the entire show, featuring interviews with Debra Messing and Thomas Haden Church as well as audio commentaries with the show's creator. The DVD debuts September 20 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, with the complete collection of 24 episodes on a three-disc set. The set will be priced at $39.95 SLP.
Ned is an ambitious executive with a gorgeous apartment in Central Park who needs a wife in order to secure a promotion. Stacey is a jilted bride looking for a way out of her parents' home. Despite a disastrous first meeting, the "couple" enters into the ultimate marriage of convenience. Everything's perfect, assuming they can learn to stand each another. Nadia Dajani (Sidewalks of New York) and Greg Germann (TV's Ally McBeal) also star as Stacey's sister and brother-in-law.
After the show's initial two-season run on FOX from 1995-1997, Ned and Stacey became an integral part of the USA Network's "USAM" comedy lineup from 1998 until 2001. During this time, the sitcom gained new popularity when it caught the eye of viewers who hadn't seen it originally, including Will & Grace fans who were curious to see this earlier incarnation of Grace Adler. Ned and Stacey's first season included guest appearances from Olivia Newton-John (Grease), Kathy Griffin (TV's Suddenly Susan), Jason Bateman (TV's Arrested Development), Loretta Divine (TV's Boston Public, Woman Thou Art Loosed) and model Paulina Porizkova (Her Alibi).
