Starring Peter Weller, the Five-Disc Set Containing All 19 TV Episodes Plus Exclusive Bonus Features Debuts on DVD April 25
Culver City, CA (February 13, 2006) - Odyssey 5: The Complete Series, Showtime's highly-imaginative and widely-acclaimed sci-fi television show, debuts on DVD April 25. The five-disc set, containing all 19 episodes including the pilot and exclusive bonus features with creator Manny Coto, will be available for $49.95 SLP from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
Odyssey 5 is the brainchild of Manny Coto (TV's "24," "Enterprise"), who served as executive producer, and stars Peter Weller (RoboCop, TV's "The Poseidon Adventure"), Christopher Gorham (TV's "Jake 2.0," "Popular"), Sebastian Roche (TV's "Legends of Earthsea," Never Get Outta the Boat), Leslie Silva (TV's "Providence," "The 70s"), and Tamara Craig Thomas (Fun with Dick and Jane). Coto created an interesting variation on the sci-fi theme by setting his series in the present, with character-driven storylines which allow for a greater range of human emotion. Odyssey 5 was Showtime's second highest rated show the season it premiered, and was the focus of an internet-based campaign to save the series when it was cancelled.
Odyssey 5: The Complete Series tells the story of the crew of the Odyssey, a space shuttle orbiting above the Earth's surface. As they prepare to return home, the crew looks on in horror as the earth explodes before their eyes. Commander Chuck Taggert (Weller), his son and fellow astronaut Neil Taggert (Gorham), Flight Officer Angela Perry (Thomas), geneticist Dr. Kurt Mendel (Roche), and a TV newswoman (Silva) escape on the shuttle into space, where they're met by a mysterious being called The Seeker who offers to transport them back five years in time to try to save Earth. Armed only with a bit of computer code referring to "Leviathan," Taggert is determined to save the planet. But when the Odyssey crew discovers that even the smallest action on their part can quickly change the course of history in unexpected and potentially devastating ways, they must band together and proceed with caution for their rescue mission to succeed.
