The series, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary, arrives on DVD featuring all 23 episodes in a five-disc boxed set. It will be available for $49.95 SRP.
The Rookies stars Sam Melville (TV's "Scarecrow and Mrs. King") as Mike Danko, Michael Ontkean (Slap Shot, TV's "Twin Peaks") as Willie Gillis, and Georg Stanford Brown (TV's "Roots") as Terry Webster. They portray three young and handsome new police officers learning to protect and serve the public under the watchful guidance of Gerald S. O'Loughlin (TV's "Roots") as Lt. Ed Ryker. Also starring is Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominee Kate Jackson (TV's "Charlie's Angels," "Scarecrow and Mrs. King") as Jill, a practicing nurse married to Mike Danko.
The Rookies began its four-season, 91-episode run for ABC on September 11, 1972, and became an overnight ratings success. The storylines depict the personal and professional adjustments the officers make as they embark on their careers and focus on the dramatic police cases they are assigned.
