TWO-FISTED PRIVATE EYE MIKE HAMMER IS BACK!

MICKEY SPILLANE'S MIKE HAMMER DOUBLE FEATURE

MURDER ME, MURDER YOU
MORE THAN MURDER

Based on the Classic Whodunits, the TV Movies That Launched the Hit Series, Starring Stacy Keach, Debut on DVD April 25

Culver City, CA (February 13, 2006) - Mickey Spillane's legendary two-fisted hero is back in action when Sony Pictures Home Entertainment debuts Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer Double Feature on April 25. The two-disc set features Murder Me, Murder You and More Than Murder, the two telefilms that launched the successful "Mike Hammer" TV series. Both films star Stacy Keach (TV's "Prison Break," American History X, Escape From LA) in his most memorable role as the celebrated private eye. The collection will be available for $19.94 SLP.

Mickey Spillane learned about the mean streets early, having grown up in a tough neighborhood in Elizabeth, New Jersey. At one time the most translated living author in the world, he began his career writing for slick magazines and later turned to pulp magazines and comic books. His 1947 debut detective novel, I, the Jury, introduced the rough-and-ready Mike Hammer character. The novel's graphic violence and sexual episodes were more pronounced than similar genre books at the time, making it an immediate best seller, with more than three million copies sold. He followed with a series of equally graphic books, many featuring Mike Hammer, all of which topped the best-seller lists. At one time, the prolific Spillane had seven titles of the ten best-selling American books of the 20th century.

Spillane occasionally acted himself, including an appearance as Mike Hammer in the 1963's The Girl Hunters (one of the only occasions in film history in which an author of a popular literary hero has portrayed his own character) and as a writer who is murdered in the TV series "Columbo." In addition, Spillane also appeared in a series of Miller Lite beer commercials which parodied his tough-guy image.

In Murder Me, Murder You, hard-hitting private eye Mike Hammer (Stacy Keach) is hired to protect Chris Jameson (Michelle Phillips from the '60s band The Mamas and the Papas and TV's "Knots Landing"), a grand jury witness and his former lover. What Hammer doesn't know is that he's the father of Jameson's 19-year-old daughter. When Jameson mysteriously drops dead in court, Hammer is compelled to seek out the daughter he has never met - before the bad guys find her first. Guest stars include Tanya Roberts (TV's "Charlie's Angels," A View to a Kill), Don Stroud (License to Kill, Bloody Mama) and Delta Burke (TV's "Designing Women").

It's More Than Murder when gritty Mike Hammer's (Stacy Keach) longtime friendly enemy, police captain Chambers (Don Stroud), is wounded during a drug bust at a poker game. When circumstantial evidence suggests that Chambers himself was in cahoots with the dope dealers, it's up to Mike Hammer to get his longtime antagonist off the hook. The film also stars Lynn-Holly Johnson (For Your Eyes Only, Ice Castles).
